New staff additions in 2022: Cohausz & Florack builds up its patent and legal expertise

Dr. Julia Konrad (neé Sauerwald), Tamara Moll, Dr. Christoph Genreith, and Georg Tully strengthen the team

Düsseldorf, December 06, 2022 – Cohausz & Florack (C&F) is continuing along its expansion path: four new experts started their patent and legal careers at the firm this year in the shape of Dr. Julia Konrad (née Sauerwald), Tamara Moll, Dr. Christoph Genreith, and Georg Tully.

Dr. Christoph Genreith studied physics and mathematics and then completed his doctorate at RWTH Aachen University. After a research placement at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA), he became the head of the facilities for tumor treatment and radiography and tomography with fast neutrons at the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) at the Technical University of Munich. Here, he also gained experience in the field of medical devices. He has already been a patent attorney at C&F since November 2021 and strengthens the team in the field of physics.

Georg Tully studied mechanical engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum, specializing in automotive drive technology. He gained a great deal of practical experience in research and development and quality assurance departments at leading industrial companies. After completing his Master’s degree, he worked as a development engineer at a company in the Schaeffler Group in basic research and testing for CVT gearboxes. He joined C&F as a patent attorney in mid-2022 and primarily advises clients from the fields of mechanical engineering and physics.

Dr. Julia Konrad (née Sauerwald) gained international research experience while studying biochemistry at Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, including at the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine in New York City (USA) and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot (Israel). After graduating, she did her doctorate at the Institute of Molecular Life Sciences at the University of Zurich (Switzerland), for which she received a scholarship from the Boehringer Ingelheim Fund. She gained practical experience in US patent law as a member of the Life Science Practice Group of Haley Guiliano LLP in New York (USA). She has bolstered the C&F team as a patent attorney in the fields of (bio)chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and life sciences since October 2022.

Dr. Julia Konrad, like Georg Tully and Dr. Christoph Genreith, was already a patent attorney trainee at the firm and returned to C&F after the obligatory “Amtsjahr” in Munich (which is spent at the German Patent and Trademark Office and Federal Patent Court). “This is a very pleasing validation for us as a training law firm”, says Jan Ackermann, a patent attorney and partner who is involved in the training of patent attorney trainees.

Tamara Moll studied business studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf and at the University of Sunderland (UK). She then worked first as a business consultant and later as a business development manager and in business start-up consultancy. Her degree in business studies was followed by a degree in law in Frankfurt and Bonn, specializing in intellectual property law. She later worked as a research assistant in banking and capital markets law at a law firm in Cologne. She already worked for C&F during her legal clerkship. She has enriched the firm as a lawyer since June 2022.

“With our new team members, we have gained reinforcements and therefore enhanced our expertise in almost every field”, says Jan Ackermann. “On behalf of the whole firm, I would like to welcome Dr. Julia Konrad, Tamara Moll, Dr. Christoph Genreith, and Georg Tully to the team and look forward to working with them.”
