New edition of “Handbuch Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit” (“Handbook Arbitration”)

Second, fully revised edition of the standard reference book – again with the participation of attorney-at-law Erik Schäfer, Cohausz & Florack

Düsseldorf, March 3, 2017 – The second, revised edition of the “Handbuch Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit Deutschland – Österreich – Schweiz” (“Handbook Arbitration Germany – Austria – Switzerland”) has now been released. The standard reference book covers all stages of arbitral proceedings – from the appointment of the arbitrator to appealing the arbitral award and its enforcement – taking into consideration the latest legal developments. “It serves as a concise source of information for conflicting parties and others involved in arbitration proceedings in all German-speaking countries and beyond. The handbook covers the legal systems of three German-speaking arbitration locations, which is a hitherto unique concept,” says Erik Schäfer, Partner at Cohausz & Florack. He is once again one of the authors and responsible for the chapter on alternative proceedings for the settlement of disputes.

The individual contributions of the new edition come from experts from almost the entire German-speaking territory. The chapters comprehensively cover arbitration proceedings with reference to the respective local arbitration law. The chapters have been partly restructured and all have been updated in terms of content. Furthermore, the legal systems of the three countries are all discussed to an equal extent. Apart from the institutional rules of arbitration of the VIAC (International Arbitral Centre of the Austrian Economic Chamber), the handbook also takes into account the arbitration rules of the ICC, the DIS and the SCAI.
