Düsseldorf, 6 January 2016 – The second revised edition of the standard textbook “ICC Arbitration in Practice” by Wolters Kluwer appeared in December 2015. In the new edition the authors Herman Verbist, Erik Schäfer and Christophe Imhoos provide helpful comments on the current rules of arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). They analyse the individual stages of hitherto ICC arbitration negotiations – from the initiation of procedures to the arbitration award – thus giving readers valuable guidance in the field of international arbitration. Furthermore, the book contains statistics relating to ICC arbitration for the years 2009 to 2013, references to selected national arbitration laws and to the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration, a bibliography, as well as a chapter on the ICC’s other dispute resolution services.
The authors of the book, all of them practicing lawyers, have extensive experience as arbitrators at the ICC International Court of Arbitration and are also active as mediators and party representatives in court. As members of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, they were significantly involved in the development of the ICC Rules of Arbitration that came into force in 2012. The principles laid down therein are among the most frequently applied today in international disputes.
