Mathias Karlhuber is an expert in technical property rights in the fields of Electronic Program Guides (EPGs), medical devices, semiconductor lithography systems, railway and especially chassis technology, crash safety technology and aerodynamics. He also specializes in data security technology, micromechanics and general mechanical engineering. At COHAUSZ & FLORACK, he is primarily concerned with obtaining and defending intellectual property rights in these areas. He has worked for the firm as a patent attorney since 2001 and as a partner since 2005.
From 2015 - 2021, he was Rapporteur Patents of the Intellectual Property Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). In this capacity, he informed the Intellectual Property Commission ("IP Commission") about developments in the patent system and represented the ICC at important international forums and congresses.
After studying mechanical engineering at the TU Munich, the TU Hamburg-Harburg and the Rush Medical Center in Chicago, Mathias Karlhuber worked at a Berlin patent law firm for two years. Since 1999 he has been admitted as a German patent attorney and as a representative before the European Patent Office and the Office of the European Union for Intellectual Property (EUIPO).
