Cohausz & Florack names new partners: Dr. Tobias Hoheisel and Dr. Martin Rütten

Düsseldorf, January 4, 2024 – The law firm Cohausz & Florack (C&F) is continuing along its expansion path and steadily widening its expertise. Two new partners were appointed on January 1, 2024: patent attorneys Dr. Tobias Hoheisel and Dr. Martin Rütten are strengthening the C&F teams in Chemistry, Pharma, and Life Sciences as well as Physics, IT, and Communications Technology. Both completed their patent attorney training at C&F before joining the firm as patent attorneys. They have a wealth of experience in litigation and in advising German and international clients. Dr. Tobias Hoheisel studied chemistry at ETH Zurich and EPFL Lausanne. He earned his doctorate in the field of carbon materials. He then spent a year and a half as a postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University in the USA, supported by a scholarship from the Swiss National Science Foundation. His research focused on polymer-inorganic and polymer-organic materials for energy sector applications. He advises German and international companies on all aspects of intellectual property.

Dr. Martin Rütten studied physics at RWTH Aachen University and as an Erasmus student at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. After obtaining his degree, he worked for one and a half years in the field of Memory and Cognitive Technologies at the IBM Research Laboratory in Zurich as part of the European Commission’s “Marie Curie Actions Fellowship.” While completing his PhD at the Institute IA for Physics of New Materials at RWTH Aachen University, Dr. Martin Rütten focused on novel electronic storage media. As a patent attorney, he advises German and international companies, primarily from the fields of IT and communications technology, in all areas of intellectual property.

“In Dr. Tobias Hoheisel and Dr. Martin Rütten, we have two experts who are highly established in their respective fields as well as two highly committed and well-regarded colleagues on board. We are delighted to welcome them both to the C&F partner team,” says Gottfried Schüll, patent attorney and partner at C&F.
