Moritz Marek
Career
After completing his Master’s degree in chemistry at TU Dresden, Moritz Marek initially continued his academic career with doctoral studies in organic chemistry and biochemistry. In the former, he focused primarily on chemo-enzymatic natural product synthesis, the optimization of established synthesis routes, and structure-activity relationship studies of quinazolinones. He primarily gained biochemical expertise through intensive work on protein expression, protein purification, and enzyme assays. Moritz Marek worked at a biotech company in Leipzig, where he gained extensive practical experience in the field of medicinal chemistry.
He joined COHAUSZ & FLORACK as a patent attorney trainee in November 2025 and has since been strengthening the firm’s Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences team.
Moritz Marek speaks German and English and has a basic command of French and Spanish.
