How can you make your patents profitable?

We can help you to exploit your patent portfolios, to monetize them, for maximum economic benefit. Significant financial returns can be made, especially in the field of disruptive technologies. This makes your patent portfolio a key pillar of your company’s success.

Why do pharmaceutical companies need an IP strategy?

Individual patents are often particularly valuable in the pharmaceuticals sector. After all, the patents relate to a precious commodity: our health. Behind each property right there are often huge investments as well as numerous jobs and research and sales organizations. This means that pharmaceutical companies should think carefully about who they entrust their patent to. Us, for example. At COHAUSZ & FLORACK, pharmaceuticals are always a partnership thing!

What is the best protection for your essential technologies?

Essential technologies – in other words those without which other companies would have no access to the market – can be protected using standard essential patents (SEPs). Holders of SEPs with a dominant market position are obliged to license them in return for fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory fees (FRAND terms). We, the COHAUSZ & FLORACK partners, are here to support you!

When does it make sense for you to register a trademark?

Trademarks are a key factor when it comes to positioning your company among the competition. It is therefore important and worthwhile for many companies to register trademarks and develop a trademark strategy of their own.

How do you stay calm in complex litigation proceedings?

Complex proceedings such as oppositions in the chemical and life sciences sector are only successful if you have a strong team at your side: We support our clients in challenging proceedings with concentrated expertise.

How can you take effective action against interfering patents?

Suppose you realize that a competitor’s patent does not go beyond the “prior art” and also hinders your business activities. You can take action against the patent within nine months of its grant in opposition proceedings. Opposition proceedings are heard by the European Patent Office (EPO) or the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA). We, the COHAUSZ & FLORACK partners, will prepare your appeal and advise and assist you during the proceedings.
