New edition of “Das Patentassessorexamen” (German patent bar exam) now available

Guidance and manual for prospective patent attorneys

Düsseldorf, 22 June 2015 – The script “Das Patentassessorexamen“ has been serving patent attorney candidates as a valuable guide and manual for exam preparation for more than 15 years. The now published 6th edition, released by patent attorney Dr. Thomas Rox of Cohausz & Florack (C&F), covers numerous legislative changes that have taken place in national and international aspects of intellectual property rights in recent years and since the publication of the 5th edition. These include, among other things, the simplification and modernization of the German patent law act (PatRModG), the act to amend German patent legislation and other intellectual property laws as well as the “new” German design act. In addition, a chapter on the planned EU patent has been added. The chapter on American law has been updated and expanded with regard to the America Invents Act (AIA). New case law developments have also been taken into consideration.

New edition with extended circle of authors

An extended circle of authors made up of patent law experts from C&F was involved in drafting the 6th edition. In addition to editor Dr. Thomas Rox, these included Dr. Natalie Kirchhofer, Dr. Henning Sternemann and Michel Kaminsky. “With these individuals we have found three competent successors for adapting and updating the script that has proven itself for so many years. This allows us to continue to successfully support prospective patent attorneys in their exam preparations”, explains Rox. The issue of patent attorney training is of great importance to C&F. The firm is constantly looking for dedicated young talents and is currently training 7 candidates to become patent attorneys.

The script “Das Patentassessorexamen“ costs € 59.00 (incl. VAT) and can be obtained via Dr. Thomas Rox, c/o Cohausz & Florack, Bleichstraße 14, 40211 Düsseldorf or per e-mail to skript@cohausz-florack.de.
