Unified Patent Court as a Key to Success in Global Patent Disputes

Cohausz & Florack at IAM Live: Navigating the UPC on November 5, 2025, in Paris

Düsseldorf, October 30, 2025 – The IAM UPC Litigation Strategy Forum will bring together leading representatives from the field of European patent law in Paris on November 5, 2025. Cohausz & Florack (C&F) will be represented at the forum by Mathias Karlhuber, patent attorney and partner at C&F, who will participate as a speaker.

In a lightning talk, Mathias Karlhuber will address current challenges and developments in patent litigation related to multimedia technologies. The focus will be on the impact of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) on complex disputes in the digital sector.

Digitalization and the rapid development of streaming, gaming, virtual reality, and other multimedia applications are leading to a growing number of patent applications and disputes in this area. Particular attention is being paid to standard-essential patents (SEPs), licensing models, and the enforcement of intellectual property rights before the new Unified Patent Court.

“The introduction of the UPC is fundamentally changing the framework for companies and rights holders in the field of digital innovation,” says Mathias Karlhuber. “Especially in the multimedia sector, new questions are arising that require a strategic approach.”

By participating in this forum, C&F underscores its expertise in European patent law and its commitment to supporting clients in the development and enforcement of modern intellectual property strategies.
