Among kitchen machines, it is almost a classic: the Thermomix from Vorwerk. In 2020, the appliance brought the Wuppertal-based family business record sales of 1.6 billion euros. But the competition is fierce. For example, the discounter Lidl: It had launched a similar, but 1,000 euros cheaper product on the market - but in January 2022 for this a sales ban from the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf cashed.

The food processor featured a special heating technology that cooks the food in the mixing bowl and, according to the judges, infringes the Thermomix patent. In addition to the sales ban, Lidl is now to pay damages. The amount will be negotiated in a further trial.
