Cohausz & Florack starts the new year with three new partner appointments

Career leap for full partner Svenja Schwandt and associate partners Lars Grannemann and Dr. Margarete Rittstieg

Düsseldorf, January 14, 2026 – The law firm Cohausz & Florack (C&F) is continuing along its expansion path and building its team of partners. Svenja Schwandt was appointed full partner at the beginning of the new year. Lars Grannemann and Dr. Margarete Rittstieg were named associate partners.

Svenja Schwandt has been a patent attorney at C&F since 2021 after completing her training at the firm. She studied medical physics at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf (HHU) and worked at the Institute for Transplantation Diagnostics and Cell Therapeutics at the HHU University Hospital, among other places, alongside her studies. At C&F, Svenja Schwandt has been responsible for mandates from the fields of physics, medical technology, metallurgy, semi-conductor technology, and energy technology for several years. As the point of contact for complex patent law issues, she oversees patent disputes, steers reverse engineering teams, and advises companies on the strategic development, protection, and enforcement of their intellectual property portfolios.

Lars Grannemann specializes in information and communication technology. He graduated from the “Top Industrial Managers for Europe” dual master’s program at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and RWTH Aachen University. After completing his studies, he worked as a research engineer at the Institute for Networked Systems (iNETS) at RWTH Aachen University and he conducted research and published papers on wireless networks. He too completed his patent attorney training at C&F and has been working for the firm as a patent attorney since March 2024. Lars Grannemann primarily works for clients in the fields of wireless networks and audio and video processing, mainly in the context of litigation relating to standard essential patents.

Dr. Margarete Rittstieg followed her master’s degree in aerospace engineering at RWTH Aachen University’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with a doctorate. During this phase, she worked as a research assistant and project manager in the Machine Tool Laboratory (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University, where she led consulting projects involving supply chain strategy, global footprint design, factory planning, and production logistics. After training as a patent attorney with C&F, Dr. Margarete Rittstieg joined the team as a patent attorney in January 2023. Her work has since focused on preparing litigation campaigns, for which she conducts infringement analyses, and coordinating interdisciplinary reverse engineering teams. Her technical expertise covers vehicle and battery technology, medical technology, energy and mobile communications technology, mechanical engineering, and construction.

“In Svenja Schwandt, Lars Grannemann, and Dr. Margarete Rittstieg, we have had three highly qualified individuals on board for years who will now drive our firm forward as partners and help it to further flourish,” says Gottfried Schüll, patent attorney and partner at C&F. “I look forward to continuing excellent teamwork and, on behalf of the partners and the entire team, wish the three of them all the best.”
