Düsseldorf, October 27, 2025 – For more than two decades, COHAUSZ & FLORACK, together with Krieger Mes, has successfully represented licensors in patent infringement proceedings - including those related to the well-known SEP pool licensing programs HEVC and AVC for video compression by Via LA. Building on this long-standing expertise, patent infringement actions against Amazon based on HEVC Standard-Essential Patents (SEPs) have now been filed. This on behalf of the licensors Tagivan II LLC, Gensquare LLC as well as M&K Holdings lnc. The cases concern devices capable of playing 4K content, such as Amazon's Fire TV and similar products that utilize HEVC technology.
These actions continue a long history of successful representation against so-called unwilling licensees and underscore COHAUSZ & FLORACK's commitment to consistently safeguarding its clients' interests in complex licensing and technology disputes.
Recently, COHAUSZ & FLORACK and Krieger Mes contributed to the conclusion of an agreement in which Microsoft obtained a worldwide license under Via LA's HEVC Patent Portfolio License (PPL).
