After more than 30 instrumental years at the firm: Farewell to C&F partner Johannes Simons

Düsseldorf, January 28, 2022 – At the start of the new year, Johannes Simons’ time as active partner and patent attorney at Cohausz & Florack (C&F) came to an end.

Over more than 30 years, he has advised numerous market-leading companies from the steel and foundry technology industries, as well as other areas of mechanical engineering and process technology, and assisted them in establishing and enforcing valuable IP portfolios in Germany and abroad. He has been a driving force in keeping C&F on its winning course over the years. As one of the founding directors of CFProfile, an IP monitoring service, Johannes Simons further expanded the firm’s range of services for the benefit of its clients. He was also instrumental in the early establishment of C&F’s daycare center, for which the firm received JUVE’s azur award and was named one of the most family-friendly law firms.

Johannes Simons completed his patent attorney training at C&F after studying mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University. In 1994, he was admitted as a patent attorney and representative before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). He was made partner at C&F in 1995.

Gottfried Schüll and Dr. Arwed Burrichter, who spent many years working with Johannes Simons as patent attorneys and long-standing partners at C&F, are grateful for the time they spent together: “His high level of commitment to the firm also encompassed the steel and iron industry, the field on which our firm was founded almost 70 years ago,” says Gottfried Schüll. “We are bidding farewell to an extremely valued colleague who will remain a role model for all C&F lawyers with his energy and loyalty,” adds Dr. Arwed Burrichter. “We wish Johannes Simons all the best for this new phase of his life.”
