Jan Ackermann studied mechanical engineering and specialized in transportation engineering, in particular automotive engineering, at RWTH Aachen University. During this time, he gained practical experience in Germany and abroad. Jan graduated in 2008 with a diploma thesis in the field of automotive chassis technology.
He began his education in intellectual property law in 2008 at COHAUSZ & FLORACK and after further educational stages at the University of Hagen, the District Court in Düsseldorf, the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court, he was admitted as German patent attorney and as professional representative before the European Patent Office in 2012. He also holds a diploma of the University of Strasbourg relating to Patent Litigation in Europe ("D.U. contentieux des Brevets en Europe"). During a stay at a Washington, D.C.-based law firm, Jan gained experience in U.S. patent law. Jan Ackermann joined COHAUSZ & FLORACK in 2012 and became a partner in 2017.
Jan Ackermann represents national and international clients in all areas of intellectual property law. Jan is particularly experienced in the field of automotive engineering. Other areas of his work include mechanical engineering, engines and machines, machine elements and production engineering. Jan also advises clients in questions of trademark law.
