CFTalks Global Prosecution Strategies

With a regional focus on North and South America

June 19, 2018 - Düsseldorf

“Where to file a patent and what to expect?” IP rights are territorial rights, i.e. they typically need to be obtained in each and every country of interest. From small- and medium-sized businesses to international companies, deciding on the country list for your patent portfolio remains a challenge. For a well-founded decision, not only commercial considerations, but also knowledge about the respective patenting and enforcement options, as well as a general prosecution strategy, is vital.

After having turned eastwards, with last year’s CFTalks focusing on China, we will now turn west, putting the spotlight on “The Americas” in our upcoming CFTalks.

The event will start with an introduction on international portfolio management and efficient prosecution strategies. We will then focus on current patent prosecution options and strategies in the United States and Latin America in more depth. While the United States are usually one of the countries on top of the list, the countries of South America are less-used options and, typically, a lack of experience with and in-depth knowledge of the legal systems make founded decisions challenging. This CFTalks aims to provide you with an introduction and update on key prosecution aspects in North and South America to consider in your global prosecution strategy.
